Energy Ottawa Green Rendezvous/ Confederation Park

Green Rendezvous activities exemplify the environmental principles of reducing, reusing, recycling, and rethinking. Ideas and products will provide you with realistic ways to adopt everyday eco-friendly habits. The Green Rendezvous is the festival's Aim fo Zero headquarters and a zero-waste site.

  1. Ecosphere Environmental Fair
    Under a tented area, organizations, corporations and governments agencies will showcase their environmentally-friendly products and services. It is also a perfect opportunity to ask questions about ways to protect our environment by using certain products and services.

  2. Zero School
    This self guided display tent will inspire visitors to understand the impact of their daily decisions. Zero School aims to inform and inspire about responsible, low footprint living, and puts kids in charge of smarter every-day decisions in the home. The Zero Schoolers, joined by EarthHead will be on hand at key times to excite families about low carbon living. EarthHead promotes green ideas and believes that the best action is to inform and lead the next generation of smart consumers.
  3. Rideau Heritage Village— Bringing together our common heritage
    This Green Rendezvous attraction offers the opportunity to experience the Rideau Canal World Heritage Rideau communities, and get a taste of canal’s fascinating history through a series of engaging and hands-on activities and performances, featuring several colourful artists, artisans, and demonstrators!

    This Café offers a wide variety of local products and refreshments.
  5. Enbridge Buy Local BBQ Challenge
    Savour Ottawa Chefs demonstrate cooking with local foods. Chefs from Ottawa restaurants and hotels will feature their favourite BBQ recipes using only local products that can be purchased within 100 miles from the nation's capital.
  6. UNESCO Photo Exhibit
    Take a stroll through Confederation Park, and see UNESCO’s breathtaking photo exhibit of Canada’s 14 other World Heritage sites.
  7. Canal Bikes
    The festival and Bicycles for Humanity offer you Rideau Canal Bikes to help you move from one end of the Canal to the other during the festival.
  8. Bicycle Parking
    Bicycle parking will be available at Dows Lake and Confederation Park

  10. The Festival du Recycl'Art de Montpellier, which takes place from July 11 to September 27, 2009, will be showcasing sculptures made entirely from recycled materials at the Rideau Canal Festival’s Energy Ottawa Green Rendezvous in Confederation Park

    Drop by one of our eight Canal Metre Lounges, open during the entire Festival. Order a refreshing Colonel By Cocktail, enjoy Festival activities, and enjoy the view of Rideau Canal!

    Bring a friend along, pick your favorite route, follow the path, and enjoy the activities!
Dows Lake Pavilion
  1. Rideau Canal Garden & Tours
    The Ottawa Botanical Garden Society and the National Capital Commission (NCC) offer a Garden Tour every day starting at 10am from the Festival Info Kiosk at Dows Lake.
  2. Canal Bikes
    The festival and Bicycles for Humanity offer you Rideau Canal Bikes to help you move from one end of the Canal to the other during the festival.
  3. Bicycle Parking
    Bicycle parking will be available by the entrance of Dows Lake Pavilion.
  4. Adopt-A-Meter Info Kiosk
    Your one-stop destination for brochures, maps, souvenirs, and your opportunity to Adopt-A-Metre of the UNESCO World Heritage Rideau Canal.
  5. Canal Metre Lounges
    Visit one of the three Canal Metre Lounges located at Dows Lake Pavilion:
    Malone’s Metre Lounge, Lago’s Metre Lounge, and Mexicali Rosa's Metre Lounge
  6. Dows Lake Parking
    Parking is available across from the Dows Lake Pavilion off Queen Elizabeth Drive or at 580 Booth Street, just north of Dows Lake.

  8. $15 for the first hour, and

    $8 for every additional hour.

    Prices include tax.
